Both of Deepti's daughters chose James Logan High School (Go Colts!). One is now a senior, and the other is a Logan graduate studying data science at UC Berkeley.
Deepti joined the Union City Human Relations Commission in 2022 and now serves as its chair. She established the utility-box cultural mural program, carrying it from idea through the Human Relations Commission, Parks and Recreation, Arts and Culture, and the City Council to approval. She also secured approval and funding for a Peace Pole planned for Old Alvarado Park.
To bring the commission's work closer to residents, she helped move meetings into the community through in-person site visits. She has also served on Union City's Climate Action Plan Task Force since August 2025.

Deepti is a cybersecurity program manager at a Fortune 500 company, where she manages multimillion-dollar budgets, vendor and compliance work, and complex technical programs. She holds the CISSP, PMP, and CSM credentials, a master's degree in microelectronics from Panjab University, and a bachelor's degree in electrical and electronics engineering. Before her technology career, she lectured engineering students and spent three years as a substitute teacher in San Mateo-Foster City schools, so she has stood in front of a classroom herself.
Deepti's community service extends beyond City Hall. She serves on the organizing committee for the eight-day Garba celebration at Contempo Park, organized neighbors to help an eleven-member Union City family after a house fire, has volunteered for Alameda County's Point-in-Time homeless count, and has led food and neighborhood cleanup drives.
Trustee Area 5 covers southwest Union City and includes Pioneer and Delaine Eastin Elementary Schools and neighborhoods surrounding Contempo Park, Pioneer Park, and Accinelli Park.
